Area hoop shooters competed Saturday afternoon in the 46th annual Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest at the Perry Middle School gymnasium.
There were six separate groups, one each for boys and girls ages 8-9 years old, 10-11 years old and 12-13 years old. Winners were:
Boys 8-9: Garrett Laws (11/25)
Girls 8-9: Lenyn Walton (1/25)
Boys 10-11: Reid Iden (11/25)
Girls 10-11: Lily Myers (9/25)
Boys 12-13: Drake Levan (23/25)
Girls 12-13: Karagyn Whelchel (11/25)
The local winners will advance to the district contest in Jefferson.
The first 50 youngsters registered received a complimentary basketball courtesy of the Perry Elks Lodge 407. Students from the Perry, ADM, Guthrie Center, Panorama and Woodward-Granger school districts were eligible.
