An Urbandale man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly breaking a woman’s wrist in the course of raping her.
Michael Lee Egenberger, 44, of 14206 Oakwood Dr., Urbandale, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse-forcible rape, first-offense domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.
According to court records, Egenberger got into a argument with the female victim about 7:15 p.m. and “during the argument, he grabbed her by the wrist and pushed her into the
closet while holding her by her wrist. Once in the closet, her arm struck the metal shelving in the closet. Egenberger still had a hold of her by the wrist, causing it to break.”
The records indicate that Egenberger then allegedly “pushed her onto the bed and unzipped her pants to have sex with her against her will,” after which he left the scene of the crime.
During the struggle, the alleged assailant took away the victim’s cell phone “and placed it in his pocket, preventing her from making an emergency phone call.”
Egenberger was held in the Dallas County Jail until posting a $10,000 cash-only bond Thursday. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 3 in Dallas County District Court.
