WOODWARD — The Woodward-Granger grapplers competed on their home mats for the final time this season when they hosted a quadrangular Tuesday.
W-G topped Nodaway Valley, 56-21, and Martensdale-St. Marys, 57-17, while falling to Greene County, 42-39. Greene County was victorious over M-SM (44-24) and Nodaway Valley (42-27) as well, with Nodaway Valley besting M-SM, 38-30, in the other dual.
A highlight for the hosts was senior 170-pounder Cale Pritchett topping the 100 career win plateau. Pritchett achieved the milestone at Webster City Saturday, but the team opted to recognize and celebrate the feat before the home faithful Tuesday.
Pritchett opened with a 20-5 technical fall victory against Nodaway Valley before receiving a pair of forfeits in his other two bouts to finish 3-0.
Kade Polich was 3-0 with three forfeits at 182 pounds for the Hawks, Devan Brown 3-0 with a pin and two forfeits at 195, with Dustin Harney using a pin and a 5-4 decision at 152 and a pin at 160 to end his evening with a 3-0 mark.
Cody Fisher was 3-0 with two pins and a forfeit at 220, with two pins and a forfeit allowing heavyweight Tyler Lawrenson to also finish 3-0. Both are seniors.
Fisher continues his climb up the career victory ladder, and is now 168-10. The defending state champion is top-ranked, the only Hawk to be listed among the top 10 in his weight class.
Peyton Nixon (106) and Matthew White (132) were both 2-1 with a pin and a forfeit while two wins by fall at 145 allowed Jayden Dorenkamp to finish 2-1.
Corbyn Atwell was 1-2 with a 10-5 decision at 120, with Jayden Flugge-Smith 1-2 at 138 with a 10-6 decision while Joel Harney was 1-2 at 113 with a forfeit.
Tjaden Smeltzer came up without a win in three matches at 126, with Clay Pehl 0-2 at 160 for the hosts.
W-G will return to action Thursday with a visit to PCM with competition at the Winterset Invite scheduled for Saturday.
