Longtime Perry Community School District Building and Grounds Superintendent Kyle McLaughlin was honored Monday night as the 2019 Perry Civil Servant of the Year by the Perry Rotary Club.
McLaughlin was presented with a plaque by Rotary Club President Dirk Cavanaugh during the open forum portion of the Perry City Council meeting. Cavanaugh thanked McLaughlin on behalf of the Rotarians and the community as a whole for his commitment to the health and safety of Perry students and the community as a whole — McLaughlin is equally well known as a veteran Perry Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief.
McLaughlin’s “calm, dedicated, professional manner is an asset to the town of Perry,” Cavanaugh told the council. “He is respected by staff, students and community members for his expertise, his service to others and for his compassion.”
Cavanaugh enumerated many of the duties McLaughlin discharges in service to the fire department and the schools.
“Albert Einstein once said, ‘Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile,'” he said. “Kevin McLaughlin is dedicated to a life of service to others.”
