Moving forward with their plan to sell six satellite properties around the county, the Dallas County Board of Supervisors scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 9:30 a.m. on a proposal to accept sealed bids on the properties.
Iowa Code Section 331.336 governs the disposal of public property, and the supervisors have proceeded with the assistance and advice of Dallas County Attorney Chuck Sinnard.
The supervisors took up the matter in September with a search of county records for the titles for the properties. Once the titles were secured, the Olson Group, an Urbandale-based real estate appraisal company, was hired to appraise the market value of each of the properties — buildings and lands.
The Olson Group submitted a total appraised valuation of the six parcels of $161,500. The individual appraisal values follow:
- The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department storage unit on the northwest corner of Martin Avenue and Luther Street in Bouton was appraised at $11,000.
- The Dallas County Conservation Department storage unit in the 300 block of Hoile Street in Dawson was appraised at $7,000.
- The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department storage unit at 333 Baker St. in Minburn was appraised at $33,000.
- The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department storage unit at 701 Pleasant St. in Van Meter was appraised at $13,500.
- The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department storage unit at 205 Ashworth Dr. in Waukee was appraised at $70,000.
- The Dallas County Conservation Department storage unit at 106 Ninth St. in Woodward was appraised at $27,000.
A seventh property, the Dallas County Secondary Roads Department storage unit at 516 Greene St. in Adel, will be sold separately.
The supervisors meet every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at 902 Court St. in Adel.
