
A Perry man was arrested following a two-vehicle collision about 5:45 a.m. on First Avenue at Lucinda Street in Perry.
Nelson Mashadow Lawrence, 24, of Perry was charged with first-offense OWI in connection with the incident, which involved a passenger car and an SUV.
The SUV sustained significant front-end damage and came to rest pointing northward in the southbound lanes of Iowa Highway 144. The car sustained damage in the middle of the passenger side after leaving the roadway and coming to rest on the sidewalk on Lucinda Street west of First Avenue.
The stop sign at First Avenue for eastbound traffic on Lucinda Street was sheered off in the collision.
A victim from one of the vehicles was examined at the scene by paramedics with Dallas County EMS.
An officer of the Perry Police Department could be seen administering a field sobriety test to Lawrence prior to taking him into custody.
Lawrence is held at the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. He was convicted of public intoxication and interference with official acts in March 2016 in Dallas County District Court.
The Perry First Responders and Perry Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
