To the editor:

Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Perry has been identified with 12 cases of COVID-19, and Granger Nursing and Rehabilitation has 27 cases. We need to insist that all residents and staff in every long-term facility in Dallas County be tested as well as traced whom they have been in contact with if they test positive.

This takes funding.

The Dallas County Health Department meets monthly. You may email them at phn@dallascountyiowa.gov to express your concerns.

They have funding from taxes approved by the Dallas County Supervisors: Brad Golightly, Mark Hanson and Kim Chapman. The Dallas County Supervisors may be contacted at 515-993-5806. They meet on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. in Adel.

As responsible citizens of Dallas County, we need to focus on the safety of those in long-term facilities, both residents and staff. Elected and appointed leaders need to take seriously their responsibility for the health and safety of the citizens of Dallas County.
