Points along County Road R16 (Quinlan Avenue) between Iowa Highway 44 and County Road F31 (196th Street) will be closed until June 19 as Dallas County Secondary Roads crews replace culverts at various locations along County Road R16.
The project consists in the removal and replacement of 19 culverts along the route, and the work crews expect to replace one culvert a day.
The road will be fully closed where the our crews are working but will be reopened to local traffic every evening and weekend, depending on weather and potential delays.
Work along the 4.5-mile stretch of roadway is anticipated to last about six weeks, depending on weather.
A recommended detour for motorists leads east to County Road R22 (T Avenue), which connects County Road R16 (Quinlan Avenue) with Iowa Highway 44.
