With temps to dip to low 30s, frost advisory issued for Saturday morning

The National Weather Service office in Des Moines has issued a frost advisory for Saturday, May 9 from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m.

Temperatures as low as the mid- to low-30s will result in frost formation over portions of central into south-central Iowa, the NWS advisory said.

Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Growers should take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Along with Dallas County, the frost advisory comprises the counties of Pocahontas, Sac, Calhoun, Webster, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren,  Marion, Mahaska, Adams, Union, Clarke, Lucas, Monroe, Wapello, Taylor, Ringgold, Decatur, Wayne, Appanoose and Davis

Including the cities of Pocahontas, Laurens, Rolfe, Fonda, Gilmore City, Sac City, Lake View, Odebolt, Wall Lake, Schaller, Early, Rockwell City, Manson, Lake City, Pomeroy, Fort Dodge,
Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Newton, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Pella, Knoxville, Oskaloosa, Corning, Creston, Osceola, Chariton, Albia, Ottumwa, Bedford, Lenox, New Market, Mount Ayr, Lamoni, Leon, Corydon, Seymour, Allerton, Humeston, Centerville and Bloomfield.
