A Perry man who pleaded guilty in April to threatening to kill officers of the Perry Police Department last December and again in February was arrested Saturday night after allegedly making similar threats toward his brother and police officers and also spitting in an officer’s face.
Jonathan de Jesus Corado Melendrez, 23, of 914 Central St., Perry, was arrested on charges of two counts of first-degree harassment, assault and assault on persons in certain occupations.
The incident began about 10 p.m. Saturday, when officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of Central Street.
Investigation revealed that Corado Melendrez allegedly “did threaten to kill his brother” and “did throw a basket at his brother,” according to court records.
Corado Melendrez allegedly kicked and spat upon an officer assault “while he was under arrest and trying to be placed in a patrol car.” Once at the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave., Corado Melendrez allegedly “did threaten to kill” one of the officers “multiple times.”
Corado Melendrez was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to posting a $3,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 17 in Dallas County District Court.
Corado is awaiting sentencing June 18 in Dallas County District Court after pleading guilty April 23 to one count of first-degree harassment in connection with a Dec. 23, 2019, incident in which he threatened to “stab” and “kill” officers of the Perry Police Department and to one count of first-degree harassment in connection with a Feb. 3, 2020, incident in which he threatened to “shoot” and “murder” officers of the Perry Police Department.
