A Clive woman was arrested Thursday evening for allegedly assaulting her parents.

Emily Kate McClaflin, 33, of 14282 Lakeview Dr., Clive, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 5 p.m. Thursday, when officers of the Clive Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 14000 block of Lakeview Drive in Clive.

According to court records, McClaflin’s mother told police that McClaflin “had shown up unexpectedly” at the residence and “was ‘in a mood’ and was very confrontational.”

An altercation ensued, according to court records, during which McClaflin allegedly “began striking” the mother “several times, giving her scratches to her arms.” The father “tried to restrain” McClaflin “by grabbing her arms and wrist,” and McClaflin allegedly “began hitting him and ripped a sleeve on his polo shirt.”

Asked by police what happened, McClaflin said that “she was just wanting to grab some of her belongings and that she wanted to leave, but then got into an argument with her parents.”

McClaflin was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to being released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for arraignment Aug. 6 in Dallas County District Court.

McClaflin was arrested April 19 on a charge of domestic abuse assault in connection with an incident in which she allegedly “punched her mother in the side of the face” and left her father with “a cut on his cheek consistent with a scratch,” according to court records. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court.
