WINTERSET — Thea Banning allowed one hit and struck out eight as Winterset blistered visiting Perry, 12-0, in four innings of Raccoon River Conference softball Monday.

Winterset (4-1) pounded out 16 hits and scored seven first-inning runs, with a three-run home run from Jessie Nicholson the biggest blow. The hosts added two runs in each of the next two innings before ending the game with a tally after one out in the fourth.

Perry (0-4) had only two runners reach base, with Molly Lutmer having a single while Jayna Kenney reached on an error.

Kenney was charged with 12 runs (eight earned) while striking out one in taking the loss.

Abby Benshoof had a triple and a single, Jenna Young a triple and Nicholson two singles to go with her home run to lead the Husky attack.

Perry is at Carroll Wednesday and Boone Thursday before hosting Madrid Friday.
