WOODWARD — A 13-hit, nine-steal attack powered the Woodward-Granger softball team to a 13-3 win over visiting West Central Valley in six innings of WCAC play Monday.
The top two hitters in the Hawk lineup dealt out the most injury, with Emma Anderson hitting two triples and adding a single while Katelyn Bandstra had three base hits. Each scored once, with Bandstra driving in four runs and stealing four bases (W-G was not caught in nine attempts) while Anderson tallied three RBIs.
Allie Moore had a RBI-double and Chloe Houge two singles, two RBIs, a run and a steal while Ava Petersen had a hit, two runs and two thefts. Audrey Simmons had a hit, run and steal, Bella McDivitt a hit and a run and Rian Jamison a base hit.
Abby Pommrehn scored twice, with Georgia Simmons, Brylee Bice, Libby Grell and Cadence Klocke also touching the plate. Bice and Georgia Simmons provided one RBI apiece, with Grell swiping a base.
Jamison continued to be the only arm in the circle for the Hawks, who improved to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in WCAC play with the win. She yielded three runs on eight hits and four walks and finished with two strikeouts.
W-G visits Gilbert Tuesday and Pleasantville Wednesday before playing at Earlham Friday, with the varsity playing first, followed by a JV game.
