WINTERSET — Sophomore Jake Porter silenced the Perry offense and received plenty of help from the plate prowess of his teammates as Winterset rolled to a 13-1 win Monday in Raccoon River Conference baseball.

Porter hit Gavin Hegstrom with a pitch in the second inning and walked Keghan West in the fourth, the only two runners he allowed to reach base. Hegstrom would eventually come around to score on a Caden Steva RBI-sacrifice.

Brock Johnson had a single, a double, and a triple for Winterset (4-0), with Justin Hackett adding two singles and a double. Hackett drove in two runs and scored three times, with Johnson scoring once and tallying one RBI.

Kato Dougan took the loss on the hill for Perry (0-4). He was touched for 13 runs (10 earned) on nine hits while walking three batters and hitting one.

Carter Iben pitched in short relief, yielding a hit and a walk. Both he and Dougan struck out one batter apiece.

Winterset has now outscored their four opponents by a combined 51-4.

Perry is at Carroll Wednesday and Boone Thursday before hosting Ogden Friday at Progressive Field.
