GUTHRIE CENTER — A single run in the top of the seventh inning proved critical for visiting Panorama, as it provided just enough of a cushion to survive a three-run bottom of the frame from AC/GC to generate a 6-5 WCAC softball win for the Panthers.

Panorama (4-5, 3-3) scored twice in the first, with AC/GC (2-7, 1-4) tying the score with two runs in the fourth. A three-run fifth gave the guests a 5-2 edge, with the final Panther run pushing their edge to 6-2.

That was exactly the margin the Panthers needed, as the Chargers surged with a three-run rally in their final at-bat, only to be turned away at the end.

Grace Richey allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits in collecting the win from the ring. She issued three walks and hit three batters while striking out one.

Eighth-grader Jaidyn Sellers had the offensive highlight for Panorama by cranking her first varsity home run. She also had a single and drove in two runs.

Both Shey Storesund and Lindy Nelson had two hits, with singles also provided by Claire Woodworth, Grace Webner, Jazmyn Sellers, Lindsey VanGundy and Zoey Hambleton. Storesund, Woodworth, Webner and Jazmyn Sellers each scored, with VanGundy have two RBIs and Hambleton one.

EmmaKay McClain had a single and a double for AC/GC, with Tori Fuller adding a pair of hits.

Saige O’Brien started in the circle and threw five innings. She yielded four unearned runs while walking three, hitting one and striking out one. McClain added two innings of relief and was touched for a pair of runs.

Panorama hosts Interstate-35 Thursday and West Central Valley Friday.
