ALLEMAN — Des Moines Christian plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesdsay to rally from a 2-0 deficit and defeat Panomama, 3-2, in their Class 2A Subtate 7 Final. The win gives the Lions a second consecutive spot in the state tournament.
Panorama (12-4) received a stellar pitching performance from Drew Taylor, who struck out 11 without walking a batter. He allowed five hits and three runs — one of which was unearned — in being handed the tough-luck loss.
His counterpart for DMC (15-6) was Kole Bradley, who yielded two runs (one earned) on just three hits and four walks. Bradley finished with eight strikeouts.
Drew Taylor had a single, a RBI and drew a walk for the Panthers, driving home Ryan Klinge — who had singled and stolen a base — in the top of the fifth. A Brice Taylor base hit plated Eavn Taylor, who reached base with both a walk and on an error.
Dominic Walker also had a single for Panorama, with Preston Walker drawing a base on balls.
Ben Leusink had a RBI-double and Scotty Wynne a two-base hit for the Lions. Dalton Lewis, Colby Shelton and Bradley all had singles and all scored once. Lewis also stole a base.
