A Perry man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly assaulting two officers of the Perry Police Department while in a drunken state.

Marco Francis Roeder, 23, of 1612 Second St., Perry, was charged with interference with official acts and two counts of assault on persons in certain occupation.

The incident began about 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of Taft Street in Perry, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. According to court records, the officers found Roeder intoxicated and fighting with a female.

Roeder allegedly began “resisting” when “officers were attempting to escort defendant to the patrol car,” according to court records. He allegedly became “extremely combative and violent” and “wrapped his legs around” an officer and “pulled her leg,” causing the officer “to fall flat on her back.”

Roeder was then “transported to Dallas County Jail after being violent, aggressive, resistive and assaultive towards officers.” At the jail he allegedly “refused to exit the vehicle and had to have assistance in getting out of the vehicle.” He “continued to be resistive walking into the jail” and “was resistive while being placed in a cage.”

As a Perry Police Department officer “was backing up to get out of the cage,” Roeder allegedly “kicked” the officer “above the left knee.”

Roeder was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to being released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 14 in Dallas County District Court.

Roeder was convicted of assault and first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2016 in Dallas County District Court.
