The future of any high school sports program is the youth programs in the community feeding the system.
To honor what Perry coaches fervently hope is an uptick in football participation, with third, fourth and fifth grade teams in the Perry Youth Football League were recognized at Dewey Field Friday as part of the larger Homecoming celebrations.
Teams and coaches were introduced and had a group photo taken. A total of 25 youngsters are on the fifth grade team, with 18 playing for the fourth grade, while 11 third grades are out for football.
