Two new positive cases of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, were identified Thursday in the Adel-De Soto-Minburn Community School District, according to communications from ADM Superintendent Greg Dufoe.
Dufoe said that one non-building-assigned staff member tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, with zero close contacts identified, and one staff member at the ADM Middle School tested positive, with two people identified as close contacts and required to quarantine for 14 days. Neither close contact was exposed onsite in an ADM school or at a school function. Both were exposed off-site, Dufoe said.
The district learned Tuesday that an Adel High School student tested positive, he said. Five close contacts of the infected student were identified by the Dallas County Public Health Department, including one person exposed onsite in an ADM school or at a school function and four people exposed off-site. The close contacts will be placed in a 14-day quarantine.
The ADM Community School District had about 1,900 students enrolled in 2019, with about 500 in the high school. The district’s Return to Learn Plan calls for 100% attendance and features many virus-mitigation tactics, such as context-appropriate face coverings for students in grades three through 12.
