A West Des Moines man was arrested Saturday after allegedly striking his daughter with a piece of wood.
Ghassan Emad Abood, 40, of 6147 Vista Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with assault causing bodily injury.
The incident began about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 6100 block of Vista Drive, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to “a report of a father threatening to kill his daughter with a gun,” according to court records.
Officers arrived, made contact with the victim and Abood and “determined that the firearm was never involved,” but Abood allegedly admitted “to striking the victim with a piece of wood,” according to court records.
The victim “had an injury on her leg” that “was classified by EMS as minor,” according to court records.
Abood is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
