West Des Moines step-father, step-son arrested after Friday fight

A West Des Moines step-father and step-son spent Friday night in the Dallas County Jail after a dispute at home brought law enforcement to the scene.

Edwin Nene Kramah, 18, of 8925 Cascade Ave., West Des Moines, was charged with assault.

Benedict Nyomah, 44, of 8925 Cascade Ave., West Des Moines, was charged with first-degree harassment.

The incident began about 6 p.m. Friday in the 8900 block of Cascade Avenue in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report domestic disturbance.

According to court records, Kramah allegedly assaulted Nyomah when he “pushed” him “into the wall and punched him in the face,” leaving Nyomah with a “complaint of pain in his jaw.”

Following the alleged assault, Nyomah “retreated to his room and called 911,” according to court records. “During this period,” Nyomah allegedly “made these statements: ‘I will really kill you. I’ll follow you to work and beat you up.’ This was corroborated by witnesses on scene.”

Kramah is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $300 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Nyomah is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
