April 14, 2021
- Steven Stumbo of Boone was traveling southeastward on Iowa Highway 141 in Granger and slowed for traffic in front of him when his vehicle was struck by a truck, driven by Gary Moeller of Des Moines. After striking Stumbo’s car, Moeller’s truck entered the south ditch and struck a utility pole, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to Stumbo’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and damage to Moeller’s truck was estimated at $5,000. Moeller was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured clear distance.
- Morgan Hendricks of West Des Moines was traveling on G Avenue at 260th Street when she swerved on the roadway, and her vehicle entered the ditch and came to rest in a farm field. Hendricks did not initially report the accident, and a deputy was called to the scene the next day. Hendricks reported that she swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $5,000. Hendricks was issued a citation for failure to maintain control and advised always to report accidents when they occur.
