Jayettes surround Monday loss with pair of victories

DES MOINES — Perry scored a 13-1 win over host Des Moines North Tuesday, partially offsetting a 7-3 setback to visiting Gilbert Monday, while a Friday trip to Madrid ended favorably for Perry, 6-2.

Jayna Kenney struck out six and walked three while allowing a single run in collecting the win from the ring in five innings of work.

Kenney helped herself at the plate with a double, a single and two RBIs, with Lydia Olejniczak adding two single, two runs, and a RBI.

Macy Killmer had a double and two RBIs, Maci Tunink a double, Peyton Tunink two base hits, and Addison Huntington two singles. Huntington scored two runs and drove home a pair, with Kassidy Atwell scoring twice for the Jayettes.

Maci Tunink allowed four runs on three hits and four walks in 1-1/3 innings from the circle Monday against Gilbert. Kenney threw 5-2/3 frames in relief and was touched for three runs on two hits and six walks. She struck out four.

Kenney had two singles and a run and Olejniczak a single, run, and stolen base. Killmer drew two walks, swiped two bags and scored twice, with Maci Tunink and Peyton Tunink also providing base hits.

A four-run third inning helped spark Perry to a 6-2 non-conference win at Madrid Friday.

Olejniczak and Maci Tunink each hit home runs, with the former also recording a double and two singles and the later two singles. Three runs were driven in by Olejniczak and two by Maci Tunink, with each scoring once.

Aidyn Hood and Peyton Tunink each had base hits, with Kathryn West walking twice and scoring twice.

Kenney yielded two runs on five hits in picking up the pitching win. She fanned nine batters and walked four.
