A Perry woman is waiting to see the judge Friday after one of the five children in her care found a loaded hand gun and shot a hole through the wall of the house Monday afternoon.
Breanna Marie Mrazek, 30, of 705 William St., Perry, was arrested Monday on charges of making firearms available to a minor, five counts of child endangerment and first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which began shortly after 4 p.m. in the 700 block of William Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of shots fired.
An officer made contact with Mrazek, who said “that a minor child had obtained an unsecured and loaded firearm and discharged the firearm in the residence,” according to court records.
The officer “located the projectile hole” on “the exterior wall of the residence” and determined “that the firearm was located in an end table, with a loaded magazine, a round
loaded in the chamber and did not have any sort of trigger guard on the firearm,” according to court records.
Officers also detected “a strong odor of marijuana coming from the same end table that the firearm was found in,” and there they allegedly found “a vial of green, leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana” and that “field tested positive for THC with a total amount of 3.9 grams,” according to court records.
The officers also “noted that there were a total of five juveniles in the residence with the unsecured firearm that was discharged,” according to court records.
Public safety radio traffic at the time of the incident indicated that a total of three firearms were allegedly located in the residence by officers of the Perry Police Department, but this report is unconfirmed.
Mrazek is in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.
