A Perry teenager was arrested early Sunday after leading officers of the Perry Police Department on a high-speed chase across town.
Daniel Armando Perez Garcia, 19, of 614 Fourth St., Perry, was charged with first-offense OWI, eluding, reckless driving, first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and he was issued citations for minor in possession of alcohol, speeding, careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign and tinted tail lights.
The chase began about 3:42 a.m. near the intersection of Willis Avenue and Diagonal Road, according to the Perry Police Department.
Perez Garcia fled eastward in a GMC Sierra pickup truck that reached speeds of 70 mph on Warford Street before the chase ended in the alleyway near First Avenue and Warford Street, where the truck struck an electrical box and stalled.
Perez Garcia was detained at gunpoint, according to police. A preliminary breath test yielded a result of .133.
Perez Garcia is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.
