A Dexter man was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend over a number on her phone.
Greg Cupp, 33, of Dexter was arrested for first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 5 p.m. Sunday in Dexter, where a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The deputy made contact with Cupp, who was shirtless and had “scratches on his chest,” according to court records. Asked the cause of the scratches, Cupp told the deputy that he “scratched himself.”
The deputy then made contact with the victim, who told the deputy that an argument ensued after Cupp “saw a number in her phone,” according to court records.
Cupp allegedly “grabbed” the victim “and threw her against the wall several times,” and the victim “scratched his chest in attempt to get free of him,” according to court records.
Cupp allegedly then “grabbed her and threw her over the back of the couch and pinned her to the floor with his knees on her chest and hands on her wrist,” according to court records.
The deputy observed on the victim “red marks around her neck and on her face as well as cuts on her wrists and arms,” according to court records.
Cupp is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 14 in Dallas County District Court.
Cupp was convicted of two counts of first-degree harassment in 2014 in Dallas County District Court.
