A Waukee man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Thursday in connection with a mid-September incident in which he allegedly assaulted a Waukee woman with whom he has three children.
Jaevan Omar Ray, 29, of 1057 Newport Court, Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
According to court records, during the course of a verbal dispute with the victim, Ray allegedly “shut their bedroom with her right arm in the doorframe,” and the “victim’s right arm got slammed in the doorframe,” according to court records.
Ray then allegedly “ran from the bathroom and jumped onto the victim’s back from behind,” and the victim “fell to her hands and knees,” according to court records.
On Oct. 1 an officer of the Waukee Police Department observed on the victim “bruising on her left elbow, both knees, left thigh and left thumb from falling,” according to court records.
Ray was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to posting a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a hearing Oct. 21 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
