PANORA, IOWA — Panorama all-state guard Payton Beckman signed a Letter of Intent Friday to continue her basketball career for Northwestern College.

She is the first recruit for new head coach Kristin Rotert and will follow fellow Panther standout Devyn Kemble (2018) to Orange City, Iowa, for collegiate sports and studies. Kemble was third on the team last season with 9.7 points per game while finishing second with 66 3-pointers made.

Beckman’s prep career is already dotted with milestones, including playing on teams that are a combined 61-11 in her three seasons as a starter.

She is currently fourth on the school career scoring list with 1,151 points, trailing only Elly Arganbright (1,235), Olivia Godfrey 1,313 and older sister Bailey (1,579). Her 272 steals is fourth-best at Panorama, with Cadence Simmons (293), Bailey Beckman (285) and Arganbright (285) all easily within range.

Her 78.9 percent accuracy at the foul line is a school-best, with her 36.1 percent accuracy behind the 3-point arc third-best. She trails only older sister Bailey Beckman (449) and Sidney Beckman (429) in attempted 3-pointers (396) and is but one shy (144-143) of Bailey Beckman in career treys made.

She will be joining a Red Raiders squad that competes at the NAIA level. Northwestern College is a member of the Great Plains Conference, composed of school in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

The Panthers are coach by Kylee Boettcher.
