
PANORA, IOWA — Woodward-Granger visited the Lake Panora Par 3 Golf Course Thursday as Panorama hosted the WCAC cross country conference meet.
Injuries and illnesses limited the W-G boys to only four entrants, one shy of recording a team score. Des Moines Christian won the boys title with 57 points, with AC/GC second at 64 and Earlham third at 77.
Van Meter (45), DMC (62) and Earlham (91) were 1-2-3 on the girls side, with W-G placing seventh in a nine-team field with a score of 198.
The top three boys to finish were Earlham’s Jayden Dickson, who crossed in 16 minutes, 8 seconds, and DMC’s Aaron Fynaardt and Carson Houg, who clocked in at 16:16 and 16:44, respectively. The boys field had 132 finishers.
Sophomores Sterling Parkinson and Aiden Topolavich were 78th and 90th to pace the W-G boys, recording times of 21:49 and 22:20. Freshman Grant Polito was 100th in 23:12, with fellow frosh Sidney Trees 124th in 26:34.
Juniors Clare and Mary Kelly of Van Meter were 1-2, in 20:21 and 20:53, in the girls race, with Ava Campbell of AC/GC third in 21:12. A total of 101 harriers completed the girls competition.
Libby Grell (25th, 23:30), Kenzie Dresback (37th, 24:50) and Katie Grell (41st, 24:57) were the three highest placers for the W-G girls, with Chloe Houge (45th, 25:31) and Sydney Grell (50th, 26:13) also scoring varsity points.
Elana Bortot (52nd, 26:45) and Maddy Mann (54th, 27:18) ran for the varsity but did not have their scores tabulated, with Kaitlyn Smith (27:52) and Marissa Trees (33:13) also running the course for the Hawks.
Trees is a junior and Libby Grell a sophomore, with the seven other Hawks all seniors.
W-G will run Oct. 21 at Southeast Valley in a Class 2A State Qualifying meet.
