PANORA, IOWA — One-win IKM-Manning was not expected to give host Panorama much of a test Monday in their Class 2A Region 3 First Round match, but the Wolverine volleyballers provided a real challenge, taking the contest to five sets.

Panorama (7-20) opened with a 25-18 win, but, after a 25-19 game two loss appeared to have reclaimed control of the match with a 25-14 win in game three. IKM-Manning (1-27) had other ideas, winning game four, 25-18, to force a tiebreaker.

The two squads scrapped back-and-forth before the hosts finally found a win to win, posting a 17-15 victory to advance. They will face host SW Valley (16-13) Wednesday, with AC/GC (22-12) facing Nodaway Valley (15-14) in the other quarterfinal in the top of the bracket. The winners will face each other Oct. 25 at SW Valley (Corning).

Mollie Monthei distributed all 17 Panther assists, with Jaidyn Sellers turning 10 of those into kills. Jazmyn Sellers had four kills, with Tyme Boettcher adding three kills and Jasmarie Flanery two.

Jazmyn Seller made 10 assists and Boettcher five, with Jaidyn Sellers, Grace Webner, Carley VanGundy and Flanery recording four digs apiece.

The team struggled with serving accuracy, connecting on just 60-of-76 (79 percent) total serves, but made the most of their effort by tallying 16 aces.

Monthei was 12-of-18 with six aces and Jazmyn Sellers 11-11-3 while Jaidyn Sellers was 9-11-3. Boettcher finished 8-12-3 behind the line, with Webner 8-10-1, Flanery 12-of-13 and Andrea Hammer 0-for-1.

All postseason games start at 7 p.m.
