A Perry man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading law enforcement on a 15-mile high-speed chase along gravel roads from Perry into Boone County.

Mark Edward Dugan II, 42, of Perry was charged with eluding.

The incident began about 4:15 p.m., according to public safety radio traffic, when Dugan, driving a Dodge Dakota pickup truck, attempted to elude a patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department by traveling at high speed eastbound on Willis Avenue to Iowa Highway 141.

Dugan then drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of Iowa 141 from Willis Avenue to M Avenue before turning northbound and then turning westbound on 130th Street. The fugitive then traveled on the gravel roads east of Beaver Creek as far north as 330th Street in Boone County.

The chase ended on 320th Street just west of H Avenue (U.S. Highway 169), where Dugan was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office, and Boone County Sheriff’s office and Greene County Sheriff’s office also responded and assisted.

Dugan is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 8 in Dallas County District Court.
