Eight Perry High School vocal music students participated in the weekend’s Drake Honor Band Festival, including Saturday night’s showcase concerts.
PHS participants included Olivia Christensen, Cassidy Hibbert, Molly Moorhead, Orlando Gonzalez, Riley Crawford, Bryce Eastman, Sebastian Hernandez and Shaelynn Fiddler.
“Congratulations to all of the students who participated,” said a PHS spokesperson on Facebook. “They put on a great concert and learned a lot.”
The annual two-day festival brings together students and directors in a series of rehearsals and clinics with guest conductors and members of the Drake music faculty. The festival culminates in two evening concerts, featuring the Drake Bands and the Honor Bands playing a wide variety of music for wind band. More than 200 music students from Iowa and Nebraska participate in the Honors Concert Band and Honors Wind Ensemble.
