A De Soto man was arrested early Friday after allegedly assaulting his father in the course of a domestic dispute.
Matthew Lee Baker, 18, of 613 Polk St., De Soto, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 3 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Polk Street, where officers of the De Soto Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
Officers made contact with Baker, who “admitted to having a verbal argument with his father and then striking his father in the face as well as punching and kicking him,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “a one-inch laceration to the base of the victim’s nose,” according to court records.
Baker is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 3 in Dallas County District Court.
