A Perry man was charged with assault and drunk driving early Saturday.
Anthony Noe Ruiz-Rivas, 26, of 702 Fourth St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and second-offense OWI.
The incident began about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of W. Third Street, where an officer of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The victim told the officer that Ruiz-Rivas allegedly “got angry and started becoming aggressive” toward the victim, “shoving her against a wall and a door,” according to court records.
The officer observed on the victim “a bruise on her left shin,” according to court records.
At about 3:30 a.m., an officer of the Perry Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of W. Third Street on a vehicle operated by Ruiz-Rivas.
The officer made contact with Ruiz-Rivas and allegedly detected “an odor of an alcoholic beverage from his person and could see he had bloodshot eyes,” and “an empty container was seen inside the vehicle,” according to court records.
Ruiz-Rivas is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
Ruiz-Rivas was convicted of first-offense OWI in 2017 in Dallas County District Court.
