Organizers of the March 8 International Women’s Day (IWD) coffee conference in Perry decided to cancel the 2022 event back in January when the COVID-19 infection rate in Dallas County was high, but hopes are high for next year.
Carol Jackson Cavanaugh, who spearheaded the first Perry IWD event in 2018, said the celebration will return next year, and a Facebook page has been created in the meantime.
“We’re setting our sights on 2023,” Cavanaugh said.
Marked annually on March 8, IWD is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, Jackson Cavanaugh said. IWD is not specific to any country, group or organization but belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.
