Geraldine “Gerry” Berner, 85, of Perry passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her home in Perry, Iowa.
In accord with her wishes, no visitation is scheduled. A private family graveside service will be eld at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.
Gerry Berner was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Perry, Iowa, to Walter John and Hazel Mae (Powell) Peel.
She graduated from Perry High School.
Gerry was united in marriage to James H. Berner in Omaha, Nebraska, May 2, 1957.
She worked as a human resources secretary at Oscar Mayer for 27 years. After she retired, she worked at the Perry Public Library and did Lifeline installations. She did catering for various events throughout her home and work life.
Gerry was a great cook and took many cooking classes. She especially loved French and Italian cooking.
In death she rejoins her husband, James; and parents, Walter and Hazel Peel.
Left to cherish Gerry’s memory is her daughter, Dawne Berner; and many lifelong friends she made along her way.
Memorials will be given to Raccoon River Pet Rescue and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
