After passing five fretful days, a Perry family was overcome by joy Saturday with the return of their beloved Bentley, a 5-year-old cocker spaniel.
“He’s home!” the joyous owner told ThePerryNews.com. “After 5 days and 2 hours, he has been returned to us!”
Bentley’s black-and-tan face was last seen Monday about 5:30 a.m. near 13th and Warford streets in Perry. A reward of $500 was offered on Tuesday, later raised to $1,000 on Wednesday, but Bentley did not come home.
One well-meaning resident even suggested letting Mr. Brown track him down.
On Saturday a break came in the case. The grateful owner said Shawn Klinkenberg of Minburn was driving in his van “and there he was.” Klinkenberg checked Bentley’s tag and immediately called the missing pup’s family.
“Thank you everyone for helping us look this week to find our baby,” the tearful owner said, adding that the family was particularly grateful to Perry Paw Spa and Matt Andorf for their generous donations toward the $1,000 reward.
“Perry, we love you!”
