The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to a chimney fire reported Wednesday morning at Wiese Industries in Perry.
No injuries were reported in the blaze in the furnace exhaust stack, which was reported about 8:45 a.m. in the 1500 block of Fifth Street.
The factory’s employees were able to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers, according to Perry Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Chris Hinds, and the fire department responded in order to check the stack in order to ensure the fire was wholly out.
