Wind advisory issued for Monday afternoon, evening

The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a wind advisory for the Perry area from noon until 8 p.m. Monday, with southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph forecast and gusts greater than 45 mph.

Gusty winds over much of central Iowa could blow around unsecured objects, the NWS said. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages might result.

Travel might be especially difficult for high-profile vehicles traveling east or west in open areas. Use extra caution when driving.

Along with Dallas County, the wind advisory is in effect for Emmet, Kossuth, Winnebago, Worth, Palo Alto, Hancock, Cerro Gordo, Pocahontas, Humboldt, Wright, Franklin, Butler, Bremer, Sac, Calhoun, Webster, Hamilton, Hardin, Grundy, Black Hawk, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Adams, Union, Clarke, Taylor and Ringgold counties.

Along with Perry, cities under the wind advisory include Estherville, Algona, Forest City,
