A De Soto man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting his jealous wife and when his teenage son intervened to stop the violence, he was also allegedly assaulted.
Christopher Lee Baker, 38, of 613 Polk St., De Soto, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 11:15 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Polk Street in De Soto, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
Baker told the deputies “that he came home after giving a niece a ride home,” and his wife, the victim, “accused him of cheating,” according to court records. In the ensuing argument, “he was strangled by” the victim, “and the ended up on the ground.”
The couple’s 13-year-old son “came into the living room and pulled” Baker “off of” the victim, and Baker allegedly “then punched” his son “multiple times in the head, face and arms, leaving redness,” according to court records.
The wife told the deputies that “when she grabbed his throat,” she was “struck repeatedly” by Baker.
Baker is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for an initial appearance Monday in Dallas County District Court.
Baker was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2004 in Cass County District Court.
