As always, the roster of the Perry High School girls swim team is a short one. And has become the case, those numbers are still capable of compiling an impressive amount of points.

Rarely in the past two decades has the team numbered much more than 10, and this year features just eight girls. That 23-year year head Jean Dowd has become adept at squeezing the most out of those numbers was shown again Thursday, as Perry outscored Algona, 88-55, at the MCB Pool.

Perry won 10-of-11 events, including all three relays. Zoe Hibbert, Quin Mahler-Moreno, Sophia McDevitt and Lilly Riley claimed the 200 medley relay in 2 minutes, 4.2 seconds, with Hibbert, Emily Dowd, Jenna Nelson and Maddie McDevitt winning the 200 free relay in 1:59.65 while Riley, Nelson, Mahler-Moreno and Sophia McDevitt claimed the 400 free relay with a clocking of 4:12.36.

Mahler-Moreno (2:17.08) and Maddie McDevitt (3:09.53) were 1-4 in the 200 IM, with Hibbert (26.98) and Riley (28.31) 1-2 in the 50 free, both in personal-best times.

Hibbert (1:00.17, PB) won the 100 free, with Nelson (1:06.59) second, with Sophia McDevitt touching first in the 100 butterfly at 1:05.51.

Sophia (1:09.67) and Maddie (1:26.08) were 1-3 in the 100 backstroke, Mahler-Moreno (1:10.9) and Dowd (1:38.47) 1-4 in the 100 breaststroke and Riley first in the 500 free with a 6:08.79.

Nelson used a 2:21.71 to place second in the 200 free, with Dowd third in a personal-best 2:36.23.

The lone senior on the team, Hailey Peterson, did not compete Thursday. Mahler-Moreno is a sophomore and Maddie McDevitt a freshman, with Dowd, Hibbert, Nelson, Riley, and Sophia McDevitt all juniors.

Perry returns to competition Tuesday with a trip to Indianola, with the meet held at the local YMCA. They will then make the drive to Des Moines North Thursday.
