Jennifer Leigh Greimann was the youngest daughter of Larry Lee Thompson and Nancy Jean Biondi-Thompson. She was born Feb. 4, 1983, in Des Moines, Iowa, completing the family of two older brothers and two older sisters.

In her younger years, Jennifer enjoyed dancing and playing drums and piano.

Jennifer graduated from Perry High School in 2001. She began her studies at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and continued her education at Grand View University in Des Moines. In 2005 she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Jennifer married her high school sweetheart, Adam Greimann, on Dec. 3, 2006, in Bouton. Together they created three wonderful children, Leigha, Avery and Grant.

Jennifer and Adam later divorced but remained the greatest of friends.

Jennifer was a determined person and a very compassionate nurse.

In 2015 she continued her education at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City. Over the next three years, Jennifer juggled raising her children, working full time at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and succeeding with her post-graduate studies. She graduated with honors from Briar Cliff with a doctorate in nursing practice.

Jennifer became an adult gerontology nurse practitioner and was employed at Unity Point Health-Des Moines Center for Liver Disease. She recently celebrated her 17th year of employment with Unity Point.

Jennifer was co-owner of Birdie’s Branch, an aesthetics studio in Des Moines. Jennifer was a passionate person and loved helping people look and feel their best.

Jennifer’s hobbies included shopping, shopping and more shopping! She had a love for traveling and took her children on many vacations. Together the four of them made so many memories that they will cherish forever.

Jennifer had just finished building the home of her dreams and had a fabulous eye for design and decorating.

Jennifer died Aug. 29, 2022 in Waukee, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lloyd and Ruth Thompson and Guy and Jean Biondi; and uncles, Roger Biondi and Dennis Thompson.

Jennifer is survived by her children, Leigha Avery, and Grant Greimann; her parents, Larry and Nancy Thompson of Perry; brothers, Timothy (Stacy) Thompson of Boone and Aaron (Jessica)  Thompson of Boone; sisters, Amy Rohret of Urbandale and Lisa (Bryce) Tingwald of LeMars; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 also at the funeral home.

The Rev. Matt Krause of Faith Lutheran Church in Adel provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were Glen Clark, Tyler Rohret, Isaac Thompson, Ian Thompson, Roman Fricke and Lucas Thompson. Honorary bearers were Adam Greimann, Danny Biondi, Tim Thompson, Aaron Thompson and Bryce Tingwald.

Recorded songs chosen were “I Remember You” by Skid Row, “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd, “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban and “Save A Place For Me” by Matthew West. Burial took place at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Madrid. A lunch followed at the Evangelical Free Church in Madrid.

Memorials are suggested for an education fund for Jennifer’s children and may be left or mailed to Hastings Funeral Home, P.O. Box 204, Perry, IA 50220. In addition, a bank will also be chosen later for receipt of memorials.
