For the second time this season, the swim teams from Indianola and Perry met for a dual meet.

By far the larger squad, Indianola could always count upon filling three spots in each of the eight individual races and have two quartets vying to for honors in all three relays. Those additional points (including six diving points earned when in Indianola) have allowed for lopsided wins, including a 115-53 Indian victory earlier this season.

All things considered, Thursday’s meeting at the MCB Pool was a very different affair from the first meeting, as although the outcome was similar the margin was starkly changed, with Indianola winning by only an 85-68 final.

Perry won the 200 medley relay in 2 minute, 4.21 seconds as Zoe Hibbert, Quin Mahler-Moreno, Sophia McDevitt, and Jenna Nelson teamed to be first to the wall. McDevitt, Mahler-Moreno, Nelson, and Lilly Riley combined to win the 400 free relay in 4:02.26 while Riley, Hibbert, Maddie McDevitt, and Emily Dowd were second in the 200 free relay with a clocking of 1:59.42.

Riley used a personal best time of 2:13.8 to win the 200 free, with Dowd third in 2:28.05. A second PB from Riley came in the 100 butterfly, in which she placed third in 1:12.71 while Mahler-Moreno was first to touch in 1:04.95.

Hibbert was second in the 200 IM in a PB effort of 2:34.63, with Nelson and Maddie McDevitt 4-5 in the 50 free in 29.9 and 31.66 seconds, respectively.

Mahler-Moreno won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.58, with Sophia McDevitt second in the 500 free in 5:57.89. Sophia was second and Maddie fourth as the sisters competed in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 1:10.04 and 1:23.19.

Hibbert was second (1:02), Dowd fourth (1:05.62, a PB) and Nelson fifth (1:06.4) in the 100 free.

Perry will compete just once next week when they host familiar foe Algona at the MCB Pool Tuesday. The meet will begin at 6:30 p.m.
