ADEL, IA — Hillcrest Country Club was the site for a full-blown cross country co-ed invite Monday, with ADM hosting races at the varsity, junior varsity and middle school level.
ADM won the girls varsity race at 45, with Woodward-Granger fourth among 10 teams.
Tiger senior Geneva Timmerman won, in 18 minutes, 45.4 seconds, with W-G freshman Eva Fleshner — who has burst onto the scene and is ranked sixth in 1A — placing second in 19:38.3
Also scoring the Hawks were Danika Leuenberger (30th, 25:44.8), Chloe Creger (31st, 25:47.3), Libby Grell (35th, 26:26.3) and Adysen Churchill (36th, 26:45.3). Talin Wright (54th, 28:48.4) and Jaidyn Achenbach (60th, 32:51.4) ran as well.
ADM’s 20 points won the boys varsity race, with W-G sixth of eight at 153 after losing a tiebreaker for fifth with Van Meter.
Sophomore Torin Timmerman joined his sister in giving ADM a sweep of individual winners after finishing in 17:16.8.
Dillon Limoges (21st, 19:44.1), Cael Leighton (25th, 19:53), and Healey Hill (29th, 20:33.5) were the top three Hawks, with Elijah Taylor (38th, 22:09.9) and AIdan Topalovich (42nd, 22:40.5) the other scorers. Sterling Parkinson (48th, 23:02.9) and Alex Younts (50th, 23:47.6) were also on the route.
Kylee Woodward (32nd, 29:50.7) and Marissa Trees (4th, 33:07.05) were the only Hawk girls, and Sidney Trees (33rd, 24:50.5) the lone W-G boy, competing at the junior varsity level.
W-G did not have a middle school girls team score, as just three Hawks ran in the two-mile race.
Callie Fenceroy (25th, 15:28.5), Lucy Fleshner (28th, 15:39.3) and Sunshine Casey (51st, 16:59.7) were the trio navigating the course.
DC-G has 42 points to win the MS boys event, with W-G ninth at 259.
Cooper Finestead was 22nd in 13:48.4 and Zayden Smothers 55th, in 18:07 to lead W-G. Heston Parkinson (56th, 18:08), Braden Love (60th, 19:26) and Michael Kunkel (61st, 21:57.6) completed the scoring five, with Alex Hoyt (62nd, 21:58.4), Isaac Anderson (63rd, 23:30.1) and Noah Faust (27:44.8) running as well.
W-G is off until Sept. 27 when they will compete in the Ogden Invitational.
