OGDEN, Iowa — An Ogden teenager has been named this week’s Kid Captain for Saturday’s football game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Ohio State Buckeyes, the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital announced Monday.
Kid Captain Gavin Miller, 13, of Ogden was born with severe kidney failure. He endured a kidney transplant shortly after turning 1 year old and has had nearly a dozen surgeries since then.
For more than a decade, the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital has partnered with the Iowa Hawkeyes in picking Kid Captains in order to honor and celebrate their inspirational stories.
