An Adel man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Thursday in connection with a May incident in which child pornography was allegedly found in his residence.
Gerard John Thompson, 67, of 22760 Laredo Trail, Adel, was charged with two counts of first-offense purchase/possess depiction of a minor in a sex act.
The incident began in May, when the Dallas County Sheriff’s office “took a report of child pornography located in property belonging to” Thompson, according to court records.
Law enforcement officers “seized numerous different photos of minors in a state of undress and some engaged in sex acts,” according to court records.
Thompson allegedly “admitted to printing off the photos and possessing them since the time they were printed” in 2003 or 2004, according to court records.
A pediatric nurse practitioner analyzed the photos and “was able to verify that the subjects engaged in sex acts were minors,” according to court records.
Thompson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
