Aureon, a commercial network connectivity company, announced Thursday that the Perry Rotary Club is one of its 2022 Charity Grant recipient.

The $500 grant was presented in conjunction with Minburn Communications, which sponsored the grant application. Upon reviewing an abundance of applications, the Aureon Charity Grant Committee delegated funds to projects committed to the betterment of local Iowa communities, the committee said in a statement.

A local civic organization, the Perry Rotary Club applied for the community grant to help fund a handicapped playground. The Rotarians are working toward making the Wiese Park in Perry and its playground equipment handicapped accessible. The target completion date is spring 2023.

“Minburn Communications appreciates the efforts of the Perry Rotary Club. Their passion and dedication to the Perry community has a tremendous impact,” said Debra Lucht, CEO/GM of Minburn Communications. “The playground conversion project was brought to our attention by our staff member, Gina McLaughlin, who also is a Perry Rotarian. We are proud to partner with Aureon to make this grant possible.”

Scott Behn, CEO of Aureon, said his company understands the importance of our rural Iowa communities.

“That is why we are dedicated to supporting the nonprofit organizations that bring forth these community-improvement projects that will help these communities thrive,” Behn said. “We look forward to aiding future projects that are sure to positively impact rural Iowans.”

The Aureon Charity Grant Program was established in 1993 in order to increase service and support to rural independent telecommunication companies and the communities they serve. The Aureon Charity Grant Program awards grants on a quarterly basis and has donated more than $1 million to Iowa nonprofit organizations over the last 27 years.
