A Perry man was arrested Saturday after allegedly giving his girlfriend a bloody lip before driving drunk.

Alexis Ivan Macias-Torres, 24, of 2632 Warford St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and first-offense OWI.

The incident began about 7:45 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of William Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the female victim and “observed blood on the bottom lip,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Macias-Torres “struck her and caused the minor cut on her bottom lip,” according to court records.

Macias-Torres fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement, but he was later found driving a 2020 Jeep Compass.

The officers made contact with Macias-Torres and observed “watery, bloodshot eyes” and “the smell of an alcoholic beverage,” according to court records.

Macias-Torres told the officers “that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages,” and his performance on field sobriety tests “showed signs of intoxication,” according to court records. A preliminary breath test returned a result exceeding the legal limit.

Macias-Torres was held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
