A Perry man was arrested Saturday after allegedly seriously injuring a Perry woman and scaring her four children.
Jeffrey Wayne Hobbs, 35, of 2801 First Ave., Perry, was charged with willful injury causing serious injury, domestic abuse assault-impeding blood/air flow, first-degree harassment, four counts of child endangerment, false imprisonment and obstruction of emergency communications.
The incident began about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2800 block of First Avenue, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of “a female bleeding from
her mouth,” according to court records.
The officers made contact with the victim, who had “multiple injuries” on her face, “indicating that she had been struck multiple times in the face, with fresh blood coming from the wounds,” according to court records.
The victim told the officers that Hobbs allegedly “assaulted her and left,” according to court records. The victim said “that Hobbs choked her during the assault, stating that he was going to beat her within an inch of her life.”
The officers observed on the victim “marks on her neck that were consistent with someone being strangled” as well as “blood coming from her mouth, marks around her neck, noticeable swelling to her chin, swelling above her right eye and on her right cheek,” according to court records.
The victim told the officers that Hobbs said as he was leaving “that he would be back to make sure that she was dead,” according to court records.
Four minor siblings “barricaded a bedroom door” during the alleged assault “due to the
level of violence that Hobbs had shown,” according to court records.
The officers noted that Hobbs had “multiple firearms in his possession,” including “handguns, AR-style rifles and shotguns” and “an abundance of knives, axes and dagger-style weapons in the home as well,” according to court records.
The victim told the officers that Hobbs allegedly took her cell phone during the assault, “broke it and then left with it without her permission,” according to court records. Hobbs also allegedly “unplugged the internet, and proceeded to also break her son’s phone.”
The victim told the officers that she “attempted to leave the residence and get help, but Hobbs would not allow her to leave the residence,” according to court records.
Hobbs is held in the Dallas County Jail $25,000 cash-only bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
