The Perry Police Department released the following statement Thursday in regard to the motor vehicle crash early Thursday at Fifth and Iowa streets in south Perry:
On March 2, 2023, at about 12:20 a.m., a resident at a 715 Fifth St. called 911 to report a vehicle crashed into their home.
Upon officers arrival they located a silver 2016 Dodge Charger that had struck the home at that location. It appeared that the vehicle was traveling west on Iowa Street and drove through the T-intersection with Fifth Street into the home.
A female passenger was transported to Dallas County Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 17-year-old male. He was taken into custody and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
The accident is under investigation, and charges are pending.
Two persons were home at the time of the accident but reported no injuries.
